Summary
The post-holder will: Work with colleagues to provide aConsultant-led service with the highest standard of care Work with the multi-professional team to develop care pathways and clinical guidelines Develop andmaintaingood working practices with wards, out-patientsand the ED Collaborate and promote close working links with colleagues, otherdepartmentsand primary care Offer educational, clinical support and leadership to junior medical colleagues, nursingcolleaguesand other members of the multi-disciplinary Ensureappropriate informationis made available to staff to measure clinical performance and enable meaningful benchmarks to beestablishedand evaluated within your area ofresponsibility Ensure there is a robust process for reviewing the quality of services provided, explaining the causes of success and failure and ensure the highest standards are maintained Provide a role model of professional leadership, which underpins the corporate values and behaviours agreed by the organisation, ensuring these are understood anddemonstratedby the medical workforce within your area and take remedial action where poor behaviouraredemonstrated Ensure that junior doctors training conforms toCollegerequirements Participate in the appraisal of medical staff within the department in line with the Trusts agree policy Become part of the ICENI teaching faculty in delivering orfacilitatingcourses/programmes. The key duties and responsibilities of the post will be: Provide cover asageneralsurgeon Provide general surgery services (you will have the opportunity to be involved in proctology (including anal fistula work and THDs), diverticular disease surgery, complex abdominal wall hernia surgery, laparoscopic hernia surgery, amongst many other benign pathology). You will have the opportunity to be mentored and trained in fields that you are potentially interested in. Provide colorectal input into joint operating with gynaecology endometriosis surgeons Issuing of advice to GPs on suitability of patients for admission to hospital
