Summary
Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a locum Consultant Gastroenterologist with a specialist interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) to join our dedicated team at The Royal London Hospital. This is a 4.5 PA fixed term role to cover a career break.
This post has a strong focus on Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) with inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services delivered at The Royal London Hospital. The successful candidate will work within a well-established and supportive multidisciplinary team.

This is a parttime 4.5 PA Locum Consultant Gastroenterologist post with a specialist interest in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), to cover a career break, for 7 months from January to August 2026. The post holder will join a team of gastroenterologists at the Royal London Hospital, providing IBD services
This will be based at the Royal London Hospital (RLH), with possibly some endoscopy activity at Mile End Hospital. Royal London is a large tertiary referral centre for IBD and Nutrition, with young adult and pregnancy IBD services and a large home PN service and centre for severe intestinal failure.
The post holder will work alongside the established gastroenterology consultants to support provision of inpatient & outpatient services, would join the ward and an on-call out of hours bleed rota. The RLH inpatient luminal team covers both IBD and Nutrition.
