Temporary General Cover Teacher | Key Stage 3 & 4

Are you a flexible, adaptable, and qualified educator seeking a rewarding temporary role? We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable General Cover Teacher to join our successful and supportive secondary school. This full-time, temporary post is perfect for a dedicated professional who can confidently manage classes across various subjects.

The Role

The core focus of this position is to provide effective cover supervision and deliver pre-planned lessons to classes across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), catering to students aged 11-16. You will be responsible for maintaining a positive and productive learning environment in the absence of the regular class teacher.

  • Cover Supervision: Ensure the safety, good behaviour, and engagement of students during lessons.

  • Lesson Delivery: Present work set by the absent teacher, ensuring students understand the tasks and remain focused.

  • Classroom Management: Implement effective strategies to manage classroom behaviour and maintain a constructive working atmosphere.

  • Full Timetable: Covering a range of subjects as required by the daily needs of the school.

What We Offer
  • Competitive Pay: A competitive pro-rata salary, paid weekly, strictly adhered to the Main Pay Scale (MPS) or Upper Pay Scale (UPS), commensurate with experience.

  • Fixed-Term Contract: An excellent opportunity to gain broad teaching experience in a dynamic environment.

  • Supportive Team: The chance to work within a highly collaborative school environment.

  • CPD Access: Opportunities to participate in the school's Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program.

The Ideal Candidate

We are seeking a proactive and resilient professional who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and/or demonstrable experience in a UK secondary school setting.

  • Possesses recent, demonstrable experience working with students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

  • Exhibits excellent classroom management and organisational skills, with the ability to quickly establish rapport.

  • Is highly adaptable and comfortable delivering content across multiple subject areas.

  • Demonstrates a strong understanding of school behaviour policies and safeguarding procedures.

Key Responsibilities

You will be expected to undertake duties that support the continuity of learning and the smooth running of the school day. These include:

  • Delivering pre-prepared lessons and supervising learning activities.

  • Managing student behaviour according to the school policy.

  • Ensuring the completion of set work by students.

  • Reporting any issues regarding student behaviour or incomplete work to the relevant departmental staff.

  • Undertaking a form tutor role if required.

  • Actively participating in whole-school life and adherence to school protocols.

If you are a flexible educator ready to secure a fixed-term role and contribute to the day-to-day success of our students, we encourage you to apply.
