A high-performing and inclusive Secondary School in Barnet is seeking dedicated and ambitious Graduate Learning Support Assistants to join their SEN team. This is a full-time, long-term role offering excellent experience for graduates aiming to pursue careers in Educational Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Teaching, Mental Health, or wider SEN pathways.
About the Role
As a Graduate Learning Support Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with a variety of Special Educational Needs, including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, speech & language needs, and social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
• Providing 1:1 support to students who require personalised guidance.
• Delivering targeted small-group interventions to help boost confidence, understanding and engagement.
• Supporting students both in and out of the classroom to ensure they can access learning effectively.
• Working collaboratively with class teachers, the SENCO and external specialists to follow individual support plans.
• Monitoring student progress, recording observations and helping adapt strategies where needed.
• Building strong, positive relationships that foster independence and emotional resilience.
What We’re Looking For
• A recent Psychology or related degree (or strong interest in SEN and child development).
• Genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs.
• A calm, empathetic and proactive approach when managing challenging situations.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
• Commitment to professional growth – ideal for candidates considering teacher training, assistant psychologist roles, or postgraduate study in psychology.
