About the role
Join the UKCS Living Places team as a Traffic Regulation Officer in Southampton and play a key role within our Traffic Regulation Team.
This position is central to the development and delivery of traffic regulation schemes, ensuring that customer requirements are met efficiently and effectively. You’ll be part of a team that values safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement, contributing to the safe and effective management of our road networks.
What you'll be doing
Your accountabilities will be as follows:
- Developing and delivering traffic regulation schemes, ensuring compliance with budget constraints and timescales.
- Producing and reviewing design drawings to meet traffic sign design legislation and guidance.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with a range of stakeholders, including Senior Management, Ward Councillors, and organisation leaders.
- Preparing comprehensive and robust fee proposals for traffic regulation schemes, and monitoring spend throughout the scheme lifecycle.
- Creating project programmes to fulfil traffic regulation, sign design, and road safety requirements.
- Keeping up-to-date with developments and best practice within traffic regulation.
- Embracing learning and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Supporting the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities.
- Maintaining a relentless focus on Zero Harm and adhering to all relevant Health & Safety requirements and standards.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following qualities/experience
- A sound knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Road Traffic Regulation Act, Highways Act, TSRGD) and the processes for introducing traffic regulation schemes.
- Experience with highway regulation documentation and the ability to draft these documents to a high standard.
- Understanding of road safety principles and sign design.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with a variety of stakeholders.
- Proficiency in GIS applications, Microsoft Word and Excel, and dedicated applications for regulation management, sign design, and road safety monitoring.
- A degree in a relevant discipline.
