Are you an experienced interventional radiographer looking to develop your role within interventional radiology? Do you enjoy working as a member of a multi-disciplinary team? Do you strive to provide patients with the best possible experience of care and professionalism? We are looking for an experienced interventional radiographer (min 2 years NHS IR experience)to join our well-established advanced practice team.

If this is you, we are offering the opportunity for a radiographer to join our growing team of IR radiographers working across Manchester University Foundation Trust. As an experienced IR radiographer, you will be expected to provide leadership; deliver training, and support the management team in one of the country's largest IR departments. This role provides excellent career progression with full training in several aspects of extended-role interventional radiography.

There are many reasons why MFT is a fantastic place to work as an IR radiographer:
• One of the country’s largest Trusts with a single vascular hub covering a population of 1.8m.
• Specialist centre for endovascular, renal and hepato-biliary services.
• Wide range of specialist procedures including endovascular aortic repair, embolisation, urological and gastro-intestinal interventions.
• Excellent reputation for research, education and innovation.

Applicants must possess a degree or a diploma in Diagnostic Radiography and be HCPC registered, they must also be currently working/studying within the NHS
Main duties of the job

The posts are cross site, involving work at the Wythenshawe, Manchester Royal and Royal Manchester Childrens Hospital. Across the sites we have 5 interventional rooms, used for a mixture of vascular, non-vascular and paediatric intervention, as well as 3 hybrid theatres that are used for vascular intervention and endovascular surgery.

Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high quality imaging and exceptional patient care during complex Interventional Radiology procedures. Working with highly sophisticated, specialised equipment you will be responsible for patient and equipment positioning, acquisition, manipulation and archiving of images. The procedures also involve the use of a wide range of expensive, sterile consumables and a detailed knowledge of these is required. The radiographer must be able to respond rapidly to any request for equipment and advise radiology trainees and consultants of alternative equipment if necessary.

Many interventional procedures result in a high radiation dose and minimising radiation to the patient, operator and other staff present during the procedure is a critical responsibility of the post.

There will be opportunities to be involved with research and to lead audit projects that result in service improvement.

The successful candidate would be expected to participate in the 24/7 out of hours, non- residential on-call service and must be prepared to work flexible shifts.
