Experienced Veterinary Surgeon – Abergavenny

• Thrive within a strong 12 vet team featuring certificate holders in Medicine and Radiology, visiting Specialists, and exceptional internal case support.
• Develop your clinical interests with dedicated mentorship from an AVP certificate holder and full backing for certificates or career progression.
• Experience genuine work–life balance within a supportive, family friendly culture, set against the stunning backdrop and vibrant lifestyle that Abergavenny offers.
• Enjoy a competitive salary of up to £65,000 DOE alongside a generous benefits package, all while working in a highly equipped, modern practice with DR X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, laser therapy, and full in-house diagnostics.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a thriving practice in the beautiful market town of Abergavenny. This well-equipped, progressive clinic offers everything needed to deliver exceptional patient care, including newly upgraded DR X-ray, dental X-ray, ultrasound, laser therapy, in-house blood machines, and blood gas analysers. With genuine clinical freedom and excellent internal support, vets are empowered to work up cases thoroughly while enjoying the guidance of a strong, collaborative team.

The practice boasts a talented group of 12 vets, including certificate holders in Medicine and Radiology, as well as visiting Specialists who regularly enhance the team’s capabilities. For those with a surgical interest, dedicated mentorship is available from an AVP certificate holder, providing hands on support to develop advanced surgical skills. Whether seeking to refine existing expertise or pursue new clinical interests, vets here benefit from a culture centred on growth, encouragement, and continuous development.

Team spirit lies at the heart of the practice. Colleagues genuinely look out for one another, celebrate wins together, and provide support on the tougher days. A true work–life balance is not just promised but protected. Lunch breaks are respected, admin time is built into the day, and taking work home simply isn’t part of the culture. For those with families, the practice prides itself on being parent friendly and flexible, helping vets excel both at work and at home. Beyond the clinical day, the environment is warm and enjoyable, with team socials, optional daily dog walks, and comfortable downtime spaces available.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident, first opinion GP Vet to bring their experience, ideas, and enthusiasm to a dedicated, close knit team. Applications from those with a surgical bias are especially welcomed, though vets with a passion for any aspect of general practice will find plenty of room to grow. Whether pursuing a certificate, developing a new service, or stepping into leadership, the team is committed to supporting every vet’s individual career goals.

Nestled between rolling hills and vibrant community life, Abergavenny offers the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and modern convenience. With stunning mountain views, independent shops, great eateries, and easy access to South Wales and the Midlands, it’s an ideal base for those seeking both quality of life and career fulfilment.

If you're searching for a practice where your ideas matter, your professional development is prioritised, and your wellbeing is genuinely valued, this could be the perfect next step in your veterinary career!
