Do you have a passion for working with children and young people? Are you driven to make a positive difference in their lives? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Emotional Well-being Home in Braunstone, Leicestershire as a Residential Children & Young People's Worker. This is a full-time permanent role.
The Old Post Office is a warm, welcoming residential home supporting children and young people aged 8–18 with complex needs and behaviours. We provide care for up to three young people at a time, offering a safe space where they can build friendships, gain confidence, and develop essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
As a Residential Children & Young People's Worker, you will:
Build trusting, nurturing relationships that promote independence, emotional well-being, and personal growth.
Work collaboratively with families, carers, and professionals to support each young person's journey.
Contribute to the day-to-day running of the home, including cooking and cleaning.
Maintain accurate records and documentation.
Uphold safeguarding policies and ensure a safe, supportive environment at all times.
What We're Looking For
To be successful in this role, you'll need to demonstrate in your application:
A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or a willingness to achieve this within the required timeframe.
A genuine motivation to create a safe, empowering space for young people.
A solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Flexibility to work shifts, including sleep-ins, weekends, and bank holidays.
Previous experience working with children and young people is desirable, but not essential—we value the right attitude and a willingness to learn.

Barnardo's, the UK's largest children's charity, is proud to partner with Leicestershire County Council in delivering innovative residential care for some of the county's most vulnerable children and young people.
While your base will be Braunstone, you may occasionally be asked to support other homes across Leicestershire.
