Summary
Enhanced Recovery Nurse – Upper GI Surgery (Band 7)
We are recruiting an Enhanced Recovery Nurse to lead and develop peri‑operative care for Upper GI patients at Hammersmith Hospital. This is a senior clinical role working with surgical teams, anaesthetics and the wider multidisciplinary team to support safe recovery, improve outcomes and guide pathway improvements.
You will shape the service, provide specialist clinical input, support education across teams and work closely with patients and families. This post suits a senior nurse with surgical experience who enjoys leading change and working across teams.

• You will lead the safe and efficient delivery of the enhanced recovery programme for Upper GI patients, using advanced clinical skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care.
• You will provide specialist advice to ward teams, junior nurses and medical staff, support early discharge planning, coordinate MDT input and deliver education across the peri-operative pathway.
• The role involves auditing outcomes, contributing to service development, supporting compliance with GIRFT and ERAS standards, and maintaining accurate data for monitoring.
• You will work autonomously, support innovation, lead training, and foster strong communication across clinical teams to improve patient experience and operational flow.
