Summary of what the candidate must have to apply:

GCSEs or equivalent, including English and Maths.
Some previous experience in a similar post/print/scanning or general office support role.
Ability to use print, post, scanning and basic reprographic equipment, including resolving simple faults such as paper jams.
Awareness of data protection, confidentiality and secure handling of information.
Strong literacy, numeracy and communication skills, including handling cash receipting and balancing tasks accurately.
Willingness and physical ability to lift and carry boxes of approx. 20–25kg in line with manual handling guidance.

The role: The postholder will support the council's central post, print, scanning and indexing functions, ensuring timely, accurate and secure processing of documents and corporate materials. Duties include print production, finishing tasks, handling incoming and outgoing mail, supporting reception sites, producing staff ID badges and assisting with cash receipting and banking activities. The role contributes to a consistent, high quality corporate service across multiple council locations.

Key accountabilities:

Complete daily print, reprographics, scanning and indexing tasks, ensuring outputs meet required timescales.
Prepare and maintain artwork for business stationery and uphold corporate branding standards.
Operate finishing equipment (binding, collating, folding, guillotining, pressure sealing) and perform routine maintenance.
Process cash and cheque payments daily, including receipting, balancing and banking.
Maintain confidentiality and secure handling of all documents in line with data protection requirements.
Provide reception cover at council buildings, checking ID, signing in visitors and responding to enquiries.
Issue staff and visitor ID badges, including access rights for controlled areas.
Deliver corporate mail services, including internal collection and distribution, and frank outgoing mail for departmental recharges.
Support flexible deployment across Cheshire East sites as needed to meet service demands

Requirements/key criteria:

GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths.
Previous experience in a similar office support, post room or print/scanning environment.
Awareness of data protection, confidentiality and information handling rules.
Ability to use and maintain print, post and scanning equipment.
Strong literacy and numeracy skills, including accurate written communication and cash handling.
Customer service skills with the ability to converse clearly and professionally with the public.
Ability to follow defined processes and work consistently to set procedures.
Flexibility and willingness to travel across the borough.
Ability to lift and carry items up to approx. 20–25kg

Desirable:

Previous experience within a local authority.
Understanding of council structures, services and procedures.
Technical knowledge of post, print, reprographics and indexing processes
