Summary

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Answering the telephone and dealing with patients enquiries Dealing with patient enquiries received via our electronic access system AskmyGP Greeting patients and directing them to the doctor/practice nurse Extracting patients medical records when requested and filing them away again Making telephone calls on behalf of the doctor to patients, the hospital etc. Correspondence sort and stamp the post. Scan letters re patients onto the computer in accordance with practice procedures and ensure documents are forwarded to appropriate person. Computer work input information onto the computer, eg patient registrations and other information as instructed by the practice manager. Scan documents and email to other healthcare professionals Repeat prescriptions receive requests for repeat prescriptions and process these both electronically and printed and forward to GP for authorising Carry out any other administrative or clerical procedures as requested by doctors or the Practice Manager. Keep office, reception area and waiting room tidy Provide cover for absences due to sickness and holidays WORKING RELATIONSHIPS All surgery staff, community teams and patients. Risk Management - All members of staff have a responsibility to report all clinical and non-clinical accidents or incidents promptly and when requested to, co-operate with any investigation undertaken.
