Summary

Are you looking to develop your career in highways and asset management? We’re seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Technician to support the delivery of highways maintenance programmes, improvement and to help maintain and improve asset management systems.

About The Role:
You’ll assist with the design, delivery and supervision of highway maintenance and improvement schemes, ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

Your work will include:


Capturing, managing and analysing highway asset data using GIS and WDM systems
Assisting in the planning and delivery of small to medium highway maintenance projects
Supporting the development of Reading’s Highways Asset Management policies and systems
Monitoring budgets and preparing reports and technical drawings
Liaising with contractors, councillors, members of the public and partner organisations

You’ll also be encouraged to build your technical expertise and progress within the career grade structure as your skills and experience develop.

About You:
We’re looking for someone with:


A good standard of literacy, numeracy and IT skills
Experience working in highways, transport or asset management (or a related technical environment)
Strong communication and organisational skills
The ability to manage your own workload and make sound decisions
A full UK driving licence and access to transport

Experience with WDM or UKPMS systems and an understanding of the Highways Act 1980 would be an advantage, though training will be provided.
