Summary
- Interim Financial Accountant opportunity
- Location: Can be 100% remote
- Salary: Paying £58,000- £60,000
- MUST be fully qualified and have experience as a financial accountant within a charity.
- Contract: 6-9 month fixed-term contract
- Start date: ASAP - interviewing from 8th December
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead on the review of balance sheet accounts and manage the reconciliation process.
- Work with finance colleagues to establish standardised processes across the charity and group for reconciliations
- Lead on establishing a process for accurate and reconciled reserves and fund accounting and reporting.
- Work with fundraising and CS colleagues to document the current processes and accounting entries, review these for accuracy and make changes where required.
- Work with CS and retail colleagues to improve year-end processes for information gathering and delivery. Work with FBMs to ensure all audit deliverable data produced at the year reconciles to the trial balance.
- Review 24/25 deliverables and identify areas for improvements.
- Work with CS and other colleagues to standardise the delivery of information to the external auditors.
- Work with financial accounting colleagues to prepare for the interim and year-end audit.
- Support colleagues with preparation of information for the audit. Lead on moving year-end information from the content server/one drive to SharePoint.
- Lead on working with financial accounting colleagues to move month-end information from the content server/one drive to SharePoint.
- Lead on working with retail and financial accounting colleagues to establish a process for managing non-retail entries into BTL (previous BDL/BEL entries) to ensure these are reviewed and managed correctly. Involve transactional colleagues in the process where required.
- Work with senior staff towards the successful implementation of the FRS102 IFRS 16 changes to fixed asset accounting. Additional work in other project areas as required.
- Any other ad hoc requests for information and reports as required by senior finance management or the wider organisation.
Experience & Skills: - Experience of working in large complex organisations with large and geographically spread operational delivery models
- Experience of delivering on objectives within tight deadlines
- Experience of process review and ability to identify new, innovative and best practice ways of working to deliver improvements.
- Engaging and influencing stakeholders, effectively handling challenging relationships and delivering complex messages in a user-friendly manner
- Proven experience in a group accounting structure
- Experience of project management and delivery of change
- Ability to show leadership, make complex decisions and recommendations and champion change
- Proficient use of computerised financial systems (essential) and preferably D365 and Power BI (desirable)
- Proficient use of MS Excel and other standard packages. Ability to use MS Excel pivot tables and formulae essential.
- Ability to plan and organise workloads and manage multiple tasks and demands within deadlines
- Self-starter who can work within overall guidance framework to identify and deliver improvements within your own area and across wider finance and the organisation
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, influencing and negotiating
