Metallurgist - Aerospace

Our client is a leading UK forge master with over 40 years’ experience in open-die forging and has recently secured accreditations within the Nuclear and Aerospace sectors. They specialise in producing high-integrity, bespoke components and continue to invest in technical excellence.

They currently have an opportunity for a Metallurgist with Aerospace and NADCAP experience to join their Technical department. The role will be instrumental in supporting the ongoing development and management of metallurgical and quality matters across both product and plant.

Main duties will include:

• Technical/Quality review of all orders, projects and specifications
• Maintenance of the specification system
• Generation of project-specific documents such as Manufacturing Procedures, Specifications, and test location drawings
• Providing technical training to colleagues as required
• Monitoring process-sensitive operations (e.g. forging and heat treatment) where necessary
• Representing the organisation in pre-production meetings with customers and suppliers

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge and experience:

• A qualification in Metallurgy, Materials Engineering or a related field
• Extensive knowledge and experience in Aerospace and NADCAP is essential
• Excellent communication skills at all levels, both verbal and written
• Strong decision-making ability
• A proactive approach to problem solving
• Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
• Effective planning and project management skills
• Highly numerate with strong statistical and analytical capability
• Practical knowledge of MS Office packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Knowledge of computer-aided design packages, specifically SolidWorks, preferred but not essential
• Ability to work effectively within a team, while also being self-motivated and confident in leading when required
