Year 5 Teacher Opportunity: Two-Term Contract in West Sussex

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated qualified Year 5 Teacher to join our welcoming school community in the picturesque village of Angmering, West Sussex. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional to join us for a full-time, two-term contract, beginning in January.

The Role: Year 5 Class Teacher (Full-Time, Two-Term Contract)

This is a full-time teaching role with full class teaching responsibility for our Year 5 class, covering a period of two terms (January - end of the academic year).

Job Description / Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and Delivery: Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging, high-quality lessons across all subjects of the Key Stage 2 (KS2) curriculum, ensuring they meet the needs of all pupils and reflect our Catholic ethos.

  • Assessment: Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of pupils, using this data to inform future planning and interventions.

  • Classroom Management: Create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment that promotes high standards of behaviour and effective learning.

  • Pastoral Care: Take responsibility for the pastoral welfare and development of all pupils in the class, acting as their primary point of contact.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the KS2 team, teaching assistants, and the wider school staff to contribute positively to the overall life and work of the school.

  • Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings and relevant professional development activities.

  • Communication: Maintain effective and positive communication with parents regarding pupil progress and well-being.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.

  • Proven experience teaching within Key Stage 2 (KS2), ideally Year 5.

  • A strong commitment to the Catholic ethos of the school.

  • A thorough knowledge of the KS2 curriculum and effective assessment strategies.
