Summary
We are currently looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join the Pulmonary Rehabilitation service at Southend University Hospital part of the Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust. The service provides rehabilitation following diagnosis of a long respiratory condition in the form of classes and telephone consultations to support long term breathlessness management.
The successful candidate would be required to have experience in a variety of band 5 rotations and demonstrate an interest in pulmonary rehabilitation services. They would be required to demonstrate excellent communication, organisational skills and flexibility in order to support the provision of the clinical service alongside the data collection requirements of the post.
You will be responsible for the assessment of patients with a variety of respiratory conditions and / or surgeries, setting them up on the most appropriate pathway to support their individual needs, monitoring their progress during the classes and referring them on to appropriate services on completion of their course. The role will also involve leading the exercise component of the pulmonary rehabilitation classes and delivering the education sessions.
This role will involve providing supervision and training to band 2 therapy assistants, as well as providing advice to rehabilitation staff within the inpatient services with regard to long term management of respiratory conditions.

• To monitor patients progress during their pulmonary rehabilitation course, modifying as required to support the individual needs
• To make timely referrals for patients to appropriate community services following completion of hospital classes
• To maintain accurate records for patients attending assessments and rehabilitation classes
• To maintain accurate data in line with the data collection requirements of the service.
• To participate in service development alongside the Band 7.
