Summary


A whole-time post as Consultant in Colorectal Surgery is available now at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.


This is a substantive post available from April 2026.

The Colorectal Department currently has a vacancy for a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon to join eight current Consultant colleagues and a Specialist Doctor.


Applications are invited to apply for the post based at the Department of Colorectal Surgery, Churchill Hospital, Oxford.


The department’s expertise covers the full range of colorectal surgery with high volumes of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floor disorders and proctology. The new Consultant will have a broad training in colorectal surgery and able to integrate and help develop the above services.



Surgical management of elective and emergency Colorectal Surgery with a primary interest in IBD Surgery. The candidate will work within a department of eight other Consultant, and one Specialist, Colorectal Surgeons andparticipate in the wider emergency on call rota.


The primary focus of the post will be IBD and general Colorectal Surgery, working closely with the existing surgeons and multi-disciplinary teams in providing these services. Activity will also include Lower GI endoscopy lists.


The post holder will participate in the on-call rota for Emergency General Surgery services based at the John Radcliffe Hospital site.


The postholder’s duties will be primarily at The Churchill Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital but it is a condition of the appointment that the postholder will be willing to work in any of the Trust’s locations within Oxfordshire, including the Horton General Hospital in Banbury.
