️ Freelance Civil & Structural Temporary Works Engineer Opportunity

Are you an experienced Civil or Structural Engineer specializing in Temporary Works? We're seeking a skilled and reliable Freelance Engineer to support our projects on a flexible, remote-basis.

About the Role

We are looking for a specialist who can provide comprehensive engineering services for various temporary works schemes, ensuring safety, efficiency, and compliance with all relevant standards. This is a contract-based, remote position, allowing for flexible working arrangements.

Key Responsibilities

As a Temporary Works Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Structural Analysis: Performing detailed structural analysis for temporary structures (e.g., falsework, scaffolding, hoardings, bespoke propping systems, ground support, and crane pads) to verify their stability, capacity, and integrity under various loading conditions.

  • Calculations: Preparing accurate, robust, and auditable calculations that demonstrate the design's compliance with Eurocodes and other applicable design standards.

  • Reports: Compiling professional and concise reports summarizing the design process, analysis results, conclusions, and any necessary assumptions or limitations.

  • Specifications: Drafting clear and detailed specifications and design drawings (working with our drafting team) for the safe construction, erection, maintenance, and dismantling of the temporary works.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Civil or Structural Engineer with a focus on Temporary Works design.

  • Strong technical proficiency in structural analysis software and hand calculations.

  • In-depth knowledge of relevant UK/European design standards (e.g., Eurocodes) and Temporary Works procedures (e.g., BS 5975).

  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and communicate complex technical information effectively.

  • Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status is highly desirable.
