Requirements:
To assist the Workshop Manager and Lead Mechanic in carrying out a range of duties, primarily directed towards the maintenance and repairs of vehicles, plant and equipment associated with grounds maintenance services.
Responsibilities:
As a HGV Mechanic:

Maintenance and Repair Carry out the routine maintenance and repair of plant, equipment and light commercial vehicles operated by Derby City Council at Stores Road depot or any other site nominated. All maintenance undertaken is to comply with the standards set out in VOSA's 'Guide to Roadworthiness' and all Operator Licence stipulations. Bring to the attention of the Workshop Manager or Lead Mechanic any indication of driver/operator damage noted during routine servicing and inspection, preparing written reports if required.

Emergency Repairs Attend promptly to vehicle and plant breakdowns involving taking out a replacement vehicle or item of plant, repairing defective vehicles or plant on site and arranging the return of it to the depot. |

Vehicle/Plant Repairs Carry out body repairs and fabrication involving the use of welding and cutting equipment for example manufacture new and replacement parts, carry out refurbishment and modification work. |
|
Diagnostic Work (Mechanical, electrical, hydraulics and pneumatic) Investigate the cause of vehicle and plant faults using gauges, hand held test equipment and computer software, isolate the cause and carry out necessary repairs. |

Documentation Complete all service/inspection and daily work sheets. |
