Role Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Paralegal or Caseworker to join our Family Law team. The successful candidate will support solicitors and fee earners in delivering outstanding service to clients, with the opportunity to develop their skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Assist solicitors with the day-to-day management of family law files, including public and private children law, non-molestation and occupation orders, and divorce proceedings.
* Draft and prepare court applications, witness statements, position statements, and correspondence.
* Liaise with clients, courts, counsel, experts, and third parties.
* Manage and maintain case files to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal aid requirements.
* Attend court hearings (where appropriate) and take detailed notes.
* Undertake legal research and assist in the preparation of bundles.
* Complete legal aid applications and use the Legal Aid Agency’s Client and Cost Management System (CCMS).
* Provide administrative support including file opening, data input, diary management, and billing.
Person Specification:
Minimum 6 months’ experience in a similar role (paralegal, caseworker or legal assistant) ideally within family law.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting and document handling.
* Empathetic and professional when dealing with vulnerable clients and sensitive matters.
* Competent in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
* Right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
* Experience with Legal Aid and CCMS.
* Previous work with victims of domestic abuse or children proceedings.
* Law degree or equivalent qualification.
* Intention to pursue a career as a solicitor or legal executive.
