Summary
BHRUT would like to invite applications for a whole time Senior clinical fellow Doctor in Neuro Critical Care & Anaesthetics.
This post is suited to Doctors working towards CESR/Portfolio pathway in Anaesthesia and/or Critical Care requiring sign off in Neurosciences. We are proud to have dedicated in house SAS doctor support including GMC CESR assessors. Additional modules sign off can be offered in Obstetrics, general Critical care, general Anaesthesia and SIAs in Major General/Peri-operative medicine.
We have; 12 dedicated neuro intensive care beds caring for a population of 2 million, 3 dedicate neuro theatres at queens and 1 neuro-interventional radiology suite. There is a 12 bedded dedicated NITU, a level 1.5 area on the neurosurgical ward Sahara B and a HASU.
We have a total of 57 intensive care beds and 27 operating theatres split over two sites – Queen’s & King George hospital. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London. Our other services include all the major specialties of large acute hospitals including:
- Cancer Upper GI surgery & Lower GI surgery including robotic surgery.
- Vascular and IR surgery.
- Robotic Gynaecological, oncological major pelvic with HIPEC.
- Neurosurgery including complex spinal procedures and neuroradiology.
- Complex orthopaedic upper and lower limb including regional anaesthesia.
- Endocrine surgery.
You will be joining a dynamic and forward-thinking team of doctors at BHRUT.
• Contribute to the provision of a high quality, responsive Neuro Intensive care and neuro-anaesthetic service to Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust that assumes responsibility for the patients within the catchment area in co-operation with colleagues in critical care, surgery and other clinical departments.
• Comply with the agreed job plan, which will be reviewed annually. 1 in 8 oncall rota with a mixture of Long Days, Nights and Standard Days.
• Participate in an emergency out of hours resident on-call cover for neuro- critical care (or obstetrics or general anaesthesia).
• Contribute to postgraduate and continuing education for medical, nursing, technical staff and other allied professions.
• Deputise in the absence of departmental colleagues in cases of annual leave and (where practicable) short-term sickness.

These CDCs are open 12 hours a day, 7 days a week and are providing an extra 88,000 scans a year.

Contribute (in co-operation with the Audit Committee) on a regular basis to the clinical audit process undertaken within the Trust, and where appropriate at a broader regional level. Encourage and participate in appropriate research initiatives approved by the local Ethical Committee. Experience in research and audit is advantageous. Maintain an up to date knowledge of current anaesthetic practice. Undertake administrative duties associated with the care of patients. Attend departmental meetings. Support the Divisional Director, Specialty Lead, Associate medical Director and other professional colleagues in the management of the department in order to ensure the maintenance of high standards, a good quality of patient care and the development of the service within the Clinical Governance framework.
