Summary

We are excited to be recruiting for a Trainee High Intensity Cognitive Behavioral Therapist to join our NHS Peterborough & Cambridgeshire Talking Therapies Service!In this role, you’ll undertake a fully-funded High Intensity Psychological Interventions Post Graduate Diploma through the University of Reading. You’ll spend 2 days a week (Wednesdays and Thursdays) studying at the university, with the remainder of your time gaining clinical hours and practical experience in our service under the guidance of experienced clinicians. Our experienced managers and supervisors will guide your development. We have an excellent track record of supporting trainees through the course and into qualified roles.Upon successful completion of the course and meeting all criteria, you will progress into a Qualified High Intensity CBT Therapist role within our service!Please Note:The University programme begins on 23rd February 2026 with two mandatory induction days (one online and one on campus), followed by an intensive teaching block where you will be required to attend teaching from 09:00-16:00 three to four times a week. The intensive teaching block will be for 5-6 weeks. Although some teaching will be online, most will be on campus at the University of Reading. After these teaching blocks, teaching will be a mixture of face-to-face and online between 09:00-16:00 usually on a Wednesday. Thursdays (9.00am - 4.00pm) will involve University supervision and clinical skills sessions.Applicants must be able to commit to both the academic and clinical components of the course.This role is not eligible for sponsorship as is does not meet the requirements as set out by the UK Visa and Immigration Service Entry Requirements / About you: We would love to hear from you if you possess the following:Have a BABCP recognised Core Profession (further information can be found by clicking here) OR you are a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner who has a minimum of two years post qualification experience and can demonstrate the ability to meet the Knowledge & Skills Assessment requirements (further information can be found by clicking here). Candidates who are applying using the KSA route must be able to present a completed KSA at the interview stage.Proven track record of working positively with people who have experienced a mental ill health in a mental health setting.Highly resilient with the ability to meet the attendance and academic requirements of the course, whilst also working for our service.Are able to organise a high-volume workload to ensure effective prioritisation and delivery of objectives.Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively.Ability to work flexibly to meet service and client need.NOTE:It is not possible to enter the programme with neither a degree nor a core profession.
