Summary


We are looking for an intuitive, enthusiastic and versatile pharmacist to join our diverse and inclusive team. Are you experienced in medicines management in theatres or medicines use in the perioperative period? Then this may be the job for you.

OUH is building a brand new Surgical Elective Centre on our John Radcliffe site. This building will house additional operating theatres to address waiting lists for complex elective surgery across the ICS. Due to the new build, we are looking for an advanced pharmacist for theatres to join the team. Within the 1st phase of the new build there are 7 theatres, in addition to those across the wider NOTSSCaN division.

This is a key role within the pharmacy team delivering services across the NOTSSCaN Theatres departments.

The post-holder will:

· Demonstrate or acquire expert knowledge in clinical pharmacy relating to theatres and peri-operative care, including prescribing, screening, advising and optimising medicines use in the area.

· Lead the establishment of safe & secure medicines management across the directorate’s theatre departments in close cooperation with senior nurses/ theatre managers and key clinicians.

· Provide specialist pharmaceutical advice to patients, carers, or clinicians

· Support and deputise for the relevant directorate pharmacists in the provision of a safe, effective, and efficient clinical pharmacy service in accordance with local and national standards and strategy

· Act as a link between the theatres and anaesthetics directorates and their relevant directorate pharmacists and directorate teams

· Provide specialised professional and technical education and training to enable the clinical units to meet high standards of patient care and safety

· Support and mentor junior pharmacists or technical pharmacy staff within the team

· Contribute to workforce strategy to ensure the team make the best use of resource to meet quality standards and operational demand
