​M & E Technician (Water Systems Bias)Department: OperationsReporting to: M&E Supervisor / Operations Manager / Contract ManagerLocation: Colchester, EssexSalary: £45,219Working Hours: Mon - Fri (8 to 5 with 1 hr unpaid break) Working intake weekend required & On call required About the RoleWe are looking for a competent M&E Technician with a strong focus on water systems to support the delivery of planned, reactive, and statutory maintenance across the site. You will ensure the safe and efficient operation of all mechanical, electrical and water-related plant, working both independently and as part of the wider technical team.Key ResponsibilitiesDeliver M&E maintenance, repairs, refurbishments and installations.Operate, maintain and repair plant and equipment safely and compliantly.Respond promptly to plant breakdowns and helpdesk requests.Maintain water systems, including temperature checks, flushing, TMV work, tank inspections, softeners, boosters, pumps, pressurisation units and ASHPs.Complete BMS management and routine plant room checks.Carry out HVAC maintenance, sprinkler checks, showerhead replacement, plumbing tasks and minor fabrication/welding work.Prepare pressure vessels for inspection and complete repairs.Participate in the 24-hour on-call rota and intake weekends.Train towards Authorised/Competent Person status and attend required courses.Support apprentices/assistants and follow all company policies, safety procedures and quality standards.Required Experience & SkillsProven experience in mechanical and/or electrical building services maintenance.Strong understanding of water systems and statutory compliance.Ability to carry out fault finding, planned and reactive maintenance independently.Good communication and teamwork skills.Ability to use relevant tools and workshop equipment.Desirable Experience & SkillsRecognised mechanical or electrical qualification/apprenticeship.Experience with BMS, HVAC, sprinkler systems and pressure vessels.Previous supervision or mentoring experience.Authorised/Competent Person training (or willingness to obtain).What Equans OffersTraining and development opportunities.Supportive team environment with clear progression routes.Inclusive workplace culture and focus on safety and quality.About EquansEquans is a global leader in technical, energy and facilities services, providing sustainable and innovative solutions.
