Summary

We are excited to have a post available for a qualified Clinical Associate in Psychology (CAP) to work in our Community Mental Health Services in Luton.

The CAP will work alongside psychologists and therapists and other colleagues from ELFT, with partnership agencies, and the Voluntary Community and Social Enterprise sector to offer trauma-informed and psychologically-informed assessment and brief formulation-driven interventions in our neighbourhood mental health services. They will work in partnership to co-design, develop and deliver a range of psychological interventions to individuals, couples, families and communities under the supervision of a registered practitioner psychologist.

We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have ties with and a commitment to working in our local area, from those with diverse backgrounds and from people with lived experience of recovery from mental health difficulties.

The post holders will work in an MDT with people who use our services and their carers to develop a shared understanding of the complex issues the person is facing, how they cope and the impact this has on their mental, physical health and well-being and those around them (psychological assessment and formulation). Under supervision, they will explore social, psychological and other potential options which may improve health outcomes and help them achieve agreed goals.

The characteristics of the core population being supported in our mental health services include people with complex psychological and emotional needs who may have experienced adverse life events, and/or people who may experience psychosis. Psychological based provision is offered to the local/identified population at the individual, group, couple and family level through to teams, systems and community level.

Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
