Summary

£14,567 per annum rising to £23,557 per annum on the second year

Location: Chelmsford

This position has been classed as an anywhere worker role but has an expectation that the successful candidate will attend the office, in Chelmsford 1 day per week, with the remaining time for remote working if desired, in line with the organisation's needs

About the Role

You'll work alongside experienced professionals and receive training to help you succeed. As part of your apprenticeship, you'll complete off-the-job training. This means spending time away from your usual work tasks to focus on learning and developing skills that support your qualification.

What You'll Do

  • Enter, check and update data in our systems.
  • Respond to emails and Teams communications.
  • Keep accurate records and organise digital files.
  • Comply with GDPR and other mandatory regulations.
  • Organise your diary to manage tasks.
  • Attend meetings in person or online via Teams.
  • Work with staff who will guide and support you.
  • Follow Essex County Council's policies and procedures when completing tasks and meet our expected standards of behaviour

About You

  • Educated to GCSE level 2 (or equivalent experience).
  • Organised, reliable, and able to manage your workload.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Experienced at using Microsoft Office and willing to learn new systems.
  • Friendly and professional approach.

Essential Requirements

  • You must be 16 or older when the apprenticeship starts.
  • You must have the right to live, work, and study in England.
  • You must have lived in the UK or EEA for the past three years.
  • You cannot already hold a Level 2 or higher qualification in a related subject.
  • You'll need to provide your GCSE (or equivalent) certificates.

What to Expect as an Apprentice

From your first day, you'll get plenty of support. You'll attend an introduction event, access training through our My Learning platform, and join an apprenticeship group with others on the same journey. You'll also be invited to regular meetups and have peer-to-peer guidance. There may even be opportunities to share your experience with wider audiences.

Apprenticeships at Essex County Council are a great way to gain a qualification and start your career.

  • Level 2 Apprenticeship = equivalent to 5 GCSE passes.
  • Level 3 Apprenticeship = equivalent to two A Levels or a T Level.
