We are seeking an individual to bring their industry expertise in welding and fabrication to lead short courses for adults delivered over evenings and weekend throughout the academic year.

Plumpton College is the leader of land and environment education in the Southeast, renowned for our outstanding cutting-edge practice and ability to align delivery to meet the needs of local and national employers. Our engineering division is growing, and with the increasing demand for part-time welding and fabrication courses, we are now seeking an industry professional to join us as an Associate lecturer to deliver short courses as required throughout the calendar year.

Working alongside our talented blacksmithing and metalworking team, the successful candidate will share industry expertise with adult learners, who undertake courses either for personal interest or hobbies or to improve their industry skills for employment. The successful candidate will uphold the highest professional and health and safety standards, inspiring, supporting and assessing learning, to support timely progress towards achievement. Leading adult programmes, they will ensure high quality delivery and student experience.

Working Hours

Working hours are expected to be between 4pm and 9pm for evening course delivery and 8.30-5.00 for weekend course delivery, although as this is an associate role, hours will be agreed for each course delivered and some flexibility will be required to meet the needs of the business.

The ideal candidate will hold qualifications in MIG and TIG welding as well as having demonstrable experience of welding and fabrication experience in industry. You will be a professional, hardworking and confident team player with excellent organisation and communications skills and a passion for student success. Although you will be support by a team in this role, you will be delivering standalone courses and therefore must be confident to work independently. The ideal candidate will already have some experience of teaching, although we provide high quality teacher training to all our staff.

Why Join Us?

With over 3,000 students, excellent resources and a drive for continuous improvement, Plumpton College is actively seeking staff who want to make a difference and be part of this exciting phase of our development. At Plumpton College we are Ambitious & Progressive, Enterprising, Professional, Supportive and Passionate about everything we do – if you share these values and would like to be part of our growing team then we’d like to hear from you.
