Laboratory Technician

Our client is a leading UK forge master with over 40 years’ experience in open-die forging and has recently secured accreditations within the Nuclear and Aerospace sectors. They specialise in producing high-integrity, bespoke components and continue to invest in technical excellence.

They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to join their Test House Department. Reporting directly to the Test House Manager, the main purpose of the role will be to perform chemical, metallurgical and mechanical tests, and to prepare and report results as appropriate.

You will also be responsible for:

• Ensuring equipment is suitable for its intended purpose by checking calibration status and using quality control methods
• Ensuring proper retention of records and test pieces for the prescribed duration
• Operating at all times in a manner which complies with the requirements of ISO 17025
• Operating in full compliance with all health and safety requirements

To be considered for this role, the following skills, personal attributes and qualifications are required:

• A keen interest in metal testing
• A science-based qualification (A-Level minimum is desirable)
• Previous experience within a Test House environment would be advantageous
• Good numeracy and literacy skills
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Good PC skills with the ability to learn new systems
• Ability to remain calm under pressure
• A team player with the ability to build effective working relationships
• Confident and professional when dealing with internal and external auditors

This is a full-time permanent role, working days Monday to Friday
