SUMMARY OF MAIN DUTIES AND CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES Be a member of the multiagency Islands Safeguarding Partnership and serve as appropriate on subcommittees at the request of the Partnership. Work with other health representatives on the Partnership to ensure that the health components of the safeguarding procedures are current. Provide safeguarding health advice on policy and individual cases to statutory and voluntary organisations including the police, children's social care and education services. Provide advice about safeguarding risks including any deficiencies or vulnerable areas in service provision to organisations across the health community via health representative arrangements, ensuring that learning from all Serious Case Reviews and other reviews is incorporated. Work closely with the Designated Safeguarding Nurse in fulfilling strategic responsibilities. Liaise with and support multiagency bodies responsible for safeguarding training and provide input as appropriate. Provide supervision for Named Doctors and other medical safeguarding leaders or ensure that they are receiving it from elsewhere. Working with Named Doctors and other health safeguarding leaders, provide advice to organisations across the islands healthcare community on Planning, strategy and commissioning with regard to safeguarding children including ensuring appropriate performance indicators and quality assurance processes are in place. Implementation of an effective system for audit, training and supervision. Monitoring of safeguarding elements of contracts, service level agreements and commissioned services. Liaise with, advise and support the islands Named Doctor and other Safeguarding Children Leads across the healthcare community to enable development of practice guidance and policies for all health staff and that performance against these is appropriately audited. Support and advise other professionals as required on the management of all forms of child maltreatment, including relevant legal frameworks and documentation and signposting as needed to key research and policy documents. Provide direct input as required into, for example, complex safeguarding cases in line with the islands Code Of Practice for complex cases and/or when there is dispute between practitioners. Support the work of the Child Death Overview Panel including providing paediatric support to the Named Nurse in their role as Lead Health Professional for Child Deaths in accordance with the island's Child Death Review Process KEY CRITERIA AND PERSON SPECIFICATION Be able to assess and evaluate evidence, write reports and present information as required to support multiagency and legal processes for safeguarding children on the island Meet the GMCs requirements for continuing professional development Attend relevant regional and national continuing professional development activities to maintain skills. This includes specific training related to specialist activities. Receive regular safeguarding supervision and peer review and undertake reflective practice from outside the employing organisation and be provided by someone with safeguarding expertise. Meet the requirements of GMC revalidation so as to maintain their GMC licence to practice in the normal way (appraisals etc). Be accountable to the Medical Director and work closely with the Director of Operations, Director of Care Delivery, Associate Director, Children & family Services, designated nurse and other Members of the Safeguarding Community.
