Summary
Neway International are seeking Finance Support Assistants to join our client Somerset Council.
Location: The Crescent, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 4DY
Hours: 37 per week (1 day per week in office, remainder remote)
Start Date: 22 December 2025
Duration: 12 weeks (initially, likely to be extended)
Pay Rates: PAYE £12.85 per hour / Limited/Umbrella £16.97 per hour

The Role
As a Finance Support Assistant, you will provide administrative and financial support within the Adult Social Care Finance Team. This is a fast-paced, varied role requiring accuracy, organisation, and strong communication skills. Full training and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain financial systems and ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
Administer imprest and unofficial funds, verify client personal finance records, and ensure cash security.
Prepare orders for goods/services, process invoices, and check delivery notes and accounts.
Handle payment queries from colleagues, suppliers, and clients.
Prepare invoices for services/goods provided, update financial records, and support debt recovery.
Input and extract information using IT systems (SAP, spreadsheets) and distribute to relevant staff.
Extract statistics for statutory returns and highlight issues to senior officers.
Act as a point of contact for staff, clients, and suppliers, providing routine advice and information.
Prepare routine correspondence, reports, and documents.
Contribute to office management, including ICT, accommodation, and health & safety matters.
Uphold equality, diversity, inclusion, and safeguarding policies in all aspects of work.
Candidate Requirements
Experience in finance administration or clerical support roles.
Strong IT skills, including SAP and spreadsheets.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage varied tasks in a busy environment.
Strong communication skills with colleagues, clients, and suppliers.
