Responsibilities

The role supports the management and coordination of all works across Dundee City Council’s road network, ensuring full compliance with statutory duties under the Roads (Scotland) Act and the New Roads and Street Works Act. It includes oversight of the Scottish Road Works Register and acts as the lead liaison with the Scottish Road Works Commissioner. The postholder advises multi-agency safety advisory groups on network implications for major events and contributes to the coordination and maintenance of the Street Gazetteer. Responsibilities also include supervising staff who handle claims and customer enquiries, reviewing existing policies, and preparing committee reports as required. The role leads the development of the Network Management Quality System and ensures timely delivery of statutory reporting functions. It also involves financial monitoring of budget spend and projections, including the raising and approval of orders.

The Individual

You will have management and supervisory experience along with experience in the design and implementation of road maintenance projects.

You will have good communication skills both written and oral, problem solving abilities and be customer focused and computer literate.

A flexible approach to working hours, capacity to work unsociable hours if required and the ability to undertake site visits and surveys is essential.

A full driving licence is required.
