An opportunity has arisen for a motivated Staff Nurse with excellent communication skills to work as part of the Outpatient nursing team. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to increase their skills by supporting clinics, supporting the development of staff, ensuring the smooth running of the departments whilst contributing to and being responsible for quality care and patient safety.

Outpatients is a diverse, multidisciplinary environment which requires flexible and adaptable skills, an aptitude to learn and a motivation to develop your own clinical skills in line with progressive service delivery. This post is vital in supporting patients through their outpatient journey, as well as assisting with examinations and offering emotional support.

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic trained nurse into band 5 staff nurse posts to assist with in the delivery of high standards of care.

Outpatients host a variety of specialities across 5 departments. Sandsfoot, Maumbury, Robert White Centre, South Walks House and Weymouth Community. The successful applicant will be required to work across all these departments, and demonstrate skills and knowledge of the below.

· Chaperoning, being patient advocate.

· Assisting in procedure clinics and supporting patient recovery.

· Supporting Orthopaedic and vascular dressing clinics.

· Supporting the development of new staff.

· Supervision and assessment of students.

· Communicating with patients, their families/carers and staff.

· Time management

· Basic level of leadership skills/experience.

The post holder will:
• To contribute towards the smooth running and development of the department through effective teamwork.
• Contribute towards Quality Improvement and Clinical Governance.
• Ensure Health and Safety initiatives including audits are carried out within the departments.
• Will be expected to work independently/autonomously without direct supervision at times.
• Participate in the delivery of formal and informal teaching for the nursing staff and act as a resource for education and development within the service.
• To co-ordinate and manage the day to day running of outpatients.
• To recognize when to, and to escalate to the appropriate service.
• Communicate effectively with patients, visitors and staff.
