Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Personal Assistant to provide support to a happy, energetic, non-verbal 9-year-old boy with Autism and Global Developmental Delay. He is non-verbal, has communication difficulties, and requires supervision and structured support to stay safe, regulated, and engaged in daily life.
This young boy thrives with routine, visual aids, and calm, patient support. He enjoys walks in the local community, reading and structured activities.
As a Personal Assistant your duties will be to provide supervision and support communication using PECS, “Now and Next” boards, and visual timetables. You will be there to help identify emotional and behavioural needs and keep him safe. You will also provide some assistance with personal care alongside support at mealtimes.
We are looking for a caring, proactive and motivated individual with a calm, consistent and structured approach. You will assist with day to day care, motivating him to develop age appropriate personal care skills.
Previous experience is desirable but not essential. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. A driver with a full clean license is desirable.
This is a part time position with hours to be discussed at interview. The hourly rate is £12.21 plus 5.6 weeks paid annual leave and workplace pension scheme.
