Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.
A little about myself:
I am a young person who enjoys getting out into the Community and taking part in fun activities. I love swimming, and trying out adventurous places like Ninja Warrior. I’m also interested in gymnastics and enjoy spending time with other children my age.
Being outdoors is also important to me. I like walking along the seafront, going to the park, and visiting cafés. I need some support to access these activities, so that I can build independence and have fun whilst giving my family a short break from caring.
Driver required to take me out.
Male / female preferred.
Hours of work
• 4 hours per week* during term-time;
• 6 hours per week* during school holidays.
*Hours preferably to be worked on a Saturday morning.
Rate of pay
£13.13
Essential
I need you to:
• Support me within the Community to help keep me safe;
• Remind me what I need to do when crossing the road;
• Know that when I’m bored I may attempt to run away, so it’s important that I am engaged in activities I enjoy;
• Recognise that, although I love treat foods, it’s important that I only have these in moderation.
Desirable
I’d prefer if my PA:
• Is patient and calm, especially when I become upset or refuse to move;
• Can use clear language and repeat instructions when needed;
• Understands that I like routine and feel more settled when I know what is happening next;
• Is encouraging, and celebrates my achievements, even small ones.
I’d like support with:
• Accessing activities I enjoy, such as swimming, gymnastics, and going for walks;
• Developing my social-skills and confidence when spending time with peers;
• Staying safe in the Community, especially around roads and unfamiliar places.
I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality;
Be confident, mature and have patience;
Be dependable and arrive on time;
Be friendly with an easy-going manner;
Be adaptable and flexible;
Be supportive but not take over;
Support me with my independence;
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.
Concerning the position
A trial period will be necessary in the first instance in the form of a six-month probationary period. Salary will be paid monthly (Annual leave is calculated on a pro rata basis). A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
