The Role:

We are seeking two enthusiastic and experienced professionals for the role of Education Advisor to provide direct support and guidance for a caseload of children and young adults who are in Bexley’s care. Professionals will possess a range of knowledge and experience in education but will specifically be able to guide and support young adults who are:

In 6th Form or College
In an apprenticeship or internship or in employment
Seeking education, employment or training
Have additional learning needs which may include an EHCP
Not in education, employment or training
Becoming more independent and preparing to leave our care at age 18

This is a unique role within the Virtual School service, with opportunity to collaborate and innovate, along with caseload responsibility for coordinating the statutory Personal Education Plan process for children and young adults in our care. The Education Advisor will lead on promoting best practice that will support the educational achievement of the priority group, working closely with the wider professional network around the child, including parents, carers, schools, education and social care professionals. The Education Advisor will be passionate about securing effective support for children and young adults in their area of work. The candidate will be required to support a number of strategic priorities and projects within the service and to work within a phase focused team to improve outcomes for children and young adults in our care.

The successful candidate will be knowledgeable about the educational needs of children and young adults, with expertise in their chosen area and skilled in identifying appropriate routes to assessment and support. This post is instrumental in helping the local authority deliver an excellent service for all children in our care and young adults leaving care. The successful candidate will demonstrate their ability to confidently talk to children and young people about setting high aspirations, and to professionals, partners and stakeholders about the high expectations we set for ourselves and others in order to improve educational outcomes.

We welcome and value applications from education professionals from a range of backgrounds with appropriate training or qualifications to meet the requirements of the ‘Education Advisor’ role.
