Summary
Thorney Island Nursery operates within the childcare industry, providing essential early childhood education and care for children aged 9 months to 4 years, as well as offering breakfast and after school care for children aged 4-11 years that attend Thorney Island Primary school.
We are open term time only 7.30-5.30pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 7.30-3pm.
Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant to join our team at Thorney Island Nursery in providing nutritious meals for our young learners. The hours are 2-5pm (maybe 5.30pm) Monday to Thursday and 8.30-1.30pm on a Friday, term time only
This role is vital in ensuring that our children receive healthy and balanced meals.
Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals for children
Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen
Ensure food safety standards are met at all times
Support meal service during tea time
Assist with inventory management of kitchen supplies
Collaborate with staff to create a positive dining experience for children
Follow dietary restrictions and special requests as needed
Participate in kitchen team meetings and training sessions
Qualifications
Proven experience in a kitchen or food service environment
Strong cooking and knife skills
Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices
Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Passion for working with children and providing quality care
Flexibility to adapt to changing needs in the kitchen
