A warm, welcoming mainstream primary school in Sefton borough is looking to appoint a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant to support Year 4 pupils with ADHD, ASD, and a range of additional SEN needs. This is a full-time role starting immediately, offering exceptional exposure to SEN, behaviour support, and mental health in an educational setting.

Ideal Candidate – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
• Minimum 2:1 degree (Psychology and Education graduates preferred)

• Previous experience supporting children (tutoring, SEN work, youth work) is highly desirable
• Motivated to pursue a career related to SEN, mental health, or education
• Must have the right to work in the UK (no visa sponsorship available)
The Role – Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant
As a Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work 1:1 with bright but vulnerable pupils who need help regulating emotions, staying engaged in lessons, and feeling secure in their learning environment. A patient, empathetic, and calm approach is essential, as the foundation of this role is building a strong, trusting relationship with the children.
You will work closely with the school’s SENDCo, receiving guidance, coaching, and regular support, allowing you to develop meaningful SEN expertise. When the pupil is on-task in class, you will also work as a general classroom Teaching Assistant—perfect for anyone exploring a future in teaching, therapy, or educational support.
