A Vacancy at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.


The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality multi-professional learning environments within the organisation and will be required to work locally within services where inter-professional learning opportunities can be promoted. The post holder will be required to support the breadth of the learner experience, which may require cross boundary working, and contribute to the delivery effective quality assurance and governance.



Supporting the Lead Practice Education Facilitator (PEF) with assessing the quality of a range of practice learning environments, determining interventions to sustain and enhance practice education; ensuring all service areas / placement providers have an-up-to date action plan in place, informing the annual quality monitoring of Learning and Development Agreements.

Supporting the Lead PEF with facilitating the development of practice supervisors, assessors and educators, providing supervision and support structures in order to build education in practice capability, consistency and efficiency.

Supporting the Lead PEF with the designing, structuring, delivering and coordination of inter-professional learning activity across a service area(s).

Participating in single Quality Assurance multi professional site visits across the organisation.

Supporting the Lead PEF with the development and coordination, evaluation and implementation of education programmes with HEIs and Colleges.

Developing and maintaining links with Education Providers to support clinical practice educators / supervisors and assessors. For example, attending AHP forums and attendance at Northwest AHP agreed share allocation meetings for Physiotherapy, Dietetics, Occupational Therapy and Speech & Language placements.

Supporting learners and educators / supervisors and assessors in practice.

Learning and Development

Support the Lead PEF on the structuring, design and delivery of inter-professional learning opportunities in practice for healthcare learners and practice supervisors/assessors/educators, within own organisation.

· Work in partnership with the HEIs in the planning, delivery and review of development programmes for practice supervisors/assessors/educators in order to meet the learning needs of different professional groups, and to ensure that the facilitation of inter-professional learning outcomes is included.

· Identify opportunities where practice supervision & assessment can be facilitated in practice as a foundation for inter-professional learning to take place.

· Produce and maintain a portfolio of education in practice activity within service area(s). For example, in house education, structured inter-professional learning activities, teaching packages.

· Support the Lead PEF with the development, implementation and review of education in practice learning environments in line with educational policy.

Deliver training and workshops to support both learners, supervisors/assessors/educators.

· Support the assurance and governance mechanisms around non-medical learned education at the organisation

· Support the quality and effectiveness of learning environment through adequate management of risks, including raising incidents in practice and liaison with external partners in mitigating and/or addressing risks to the learning environments, learners or patients, or staff.

· Be a role model for learners and staff.

· Promote learning and development opportunities and work Trust wide in promoting high standards for education and practice education.

Services and Project Management

Prepare and support educators/practice assessors and supervisors to contribute to educational audits and perform self-assessments.

· Support educators/ practice assessors and supervisors in the delivery of education action plans.

· Undertake research and development relevant to supervision/ education in practice and the clinical learning environment.

· Support the Lead PEF with the Clinical Placement Enhancement Project (CPEP) trajectories, ensuring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met and all increases in capacity meet the quality standards set by the Trust, professional bodies and HEIs, against Equality, Diversity & Inclusion standards.

· Support the Lead PEF with assessing and benchmarking clinical and other learning environments within own organisation and with relevant external partners.

· Develop and support educators/ practice assessors and supervisors in decisions relating to the learner experience including the achievement of learning outcomes, competence and fitness for practice.

·Support the Lead PEF in identifying shortfalls in practice supervisors/assessors/educators across a range of learning environments in order to inform commissioning intentions and facilitate access to supervision updates and training opportunities.

· Provide best practice advice in a clinical setting for practice supervisors/assessors/educators and staff in relation to education in practice.

· Support the Lead PEF with the implementation and roll out of SYNERGY and other models of supervision, SLEC and SMART rosters throughout the organisation, and provide accurate reports to the GM Project Nursing, Midwifery & AHP Workforce Office regarding progress where requested.

· Support the Lead PEF with the implementation of the GM Health & Care Learning Environment Strategy and other relevant education strategies within the organisation.

· Ensure adequate recording of supervisor/assessor/educator compliance using ESR and be able to interpret data to inform action plans.

· Produce reports into activity for related services as required.

· Manage the delivery of assign projects to end, escalating risks to projects or opportunities for improvement.

· Positively contribute to the team through promoting evidence-based practice and best practice standards at all times.

Development and Innovation

Identify outcomes of inter-professional learning experiences to facilitate the breadth of the learner experience and evaluate the effectiveness of any change.

· As required, collaborate with GM HEIs to align new learning opportunities to learning outcomes.

· Support the Lead PEF to contribute to the Health Education England wider engagement framework in the delivery of defined clinical placement initiatives.

· Network locally, regionally and nationally with peer group to support the sharing of best practice and local promotion of national initiatives.

Communication

Act as an expert resource/ Champion of Inter-professional Learning and Education.

· Communicate educational and practice information across placement providers and educational Institutions and undertake presentations relating to education in practice.

· Ensure communication channels are used appropriately to facilitate the flow of information between internal and external partners.

· Share best practice relating to Quality Assurance and Inter-professional Learning across placement providers.

· Produce a regular progress report as required.

· Ensure that confidentiality is maintained at all times in conjunction with organisational policies.

Service Improvement

Collaborate with relevant external partners in Higher Education Institutions to ensure academic rigor in practice learning is maintained, learning outcomes can be met, and are aligned with service needs.

· Participate in multi professional quality assurance monitoring of education in practice within own organisation and across organisational boundaries. Align with the Learning and Development Agreement process, and with Quality Assurance systems in partnership with Education Providers.

· Continuously monitor practice learning activities against quality assurance standards enabling ongoing enhancement of the learning experience.

· Support the Lead PEF in promoting change initiatives in response to organisational requirements.

· Contribute to service improvement through adopting and Improvement Quality mindset and through identifying and promoting local opportunities for improvement.

Information & Knowledge

Deliver key role outcomes as required in the Learning and Development Agreement process.

· Maintain up-to-date and accurate records and live registers of educators/assessors and supervisors in the practice setting using relevant systems.

· Be responsive to learner issues and escalate appropriately and as per Trust & HEI policy.

· Monitor areas of concern and work with the wider team to identify themes and trends, ensuring risk are addressed in a timely manner.

· Liaise with relevant departments within the Trust, including Library Services, to inform resource requirements and widen access to facilities.

Personal and People Development

Contribute to maintaining and improving own professional knowledge and competence, and that of practice assessors/supervisors/educators in practice.

· Participate in an annual collaborative appraisal process to enable achievement of objectives and management of learning needs.

· Manage own workload independently and prioritise as required.

· Participate in clinical supervision/coaching.

· Maintain clinical competence to be able to work alongside learners and assessors/supervisors/educators in practice.

· Contribute to s educators/assessors/supervisors staff development as required.

· Collaborate with the Lead PEF in the yearly Appraisal process.

· Ensure you work within own professional boundaries, escalating and liaising appropriately to overcome barriers to own development, or development of others.
