Location: Remote (occasional office attendance required)
Role Purpose
Lincolnshire County Council is seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer to join their Legal Services team on a temporary basis. This role is essential in supporting the council’s statutory and commercial obligations, working across a diverse range of contracts and procurement matters.
You will become an integral part of a small team delivering legal services to the Local Authority, partner District Councils, and the newly created Greater Lincolnshire Combined County Authority.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and support on services contracts, IT contracts, framework agreements, collaborative procurements, grant agreements, and subsidy control.
Work closely with client departments to ensure compliance and effective delivery of commercial projects.
Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contractual documents.
Contribute to the smooth running of the Legal Services team, supporting colleagues and stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to relevant legislation and local authority governance requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
Minimum of 3 years PQE in contracts and procurement work for a local authority.
Strong knowledge of commercial law and public sector procurement.
Proven ability to manage a varied caseload independently.
Desirable:
Experience working with combined authorities or district councils.
Familiarity with subsidy control and grant agreements.
Skills
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment.
Collaborative approach to working with colleagues and stakeholders.
Working Conditions
Remote role with occasional office attendance required.
Part-time hours (22.5–25 per week).
Initially a 3-month contract with strong potential for extension.
