About the role

As a Support Service Engineer at Tesco across the North of England, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our stores remains a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for customers and colleagues alike. You’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a range of systems and equipment, helping to keep our operations running smoothly.

Your work will directly impact the shopping experience of thousands of customers every day. You’ll use your technical expertise to identify and resolve issues efficiently, always prioritising safety, compliance, and quality.

This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high standards. This is a remote role with occasional visits to store.

You will be responsible for

Join our dynamic Property Maintenance team as a Service Support Engineer, where you\'ll play a key role in keeping our stores and offices running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. What you\'ll be doing:

  • Diagnosing and resolving maintenance issues remotely, using smart systems and data to drive timely, permanent solutions.
  • Spotting trends and opportunities to improve how we operate, using insights from our systems to shape smarter maintenance strategies.
  • Working closely with colleagues across functions, building strong relationships and communicating clearly to optimise resource planning and dispatching.
  • Developing and embedding incident investigation processes, helping us learn from issues and continuously improve.
  • Visiting sites when needed, providing hands-on support and technical expertise.
  • Championing safety, ensuring our stores and offices are safe for colleagues and customers alike.
  • Driving asset uptime, making sure repairs are completed within agreed timeframes.
  • Putting people first, with every decision guided by the wellbeing of our communities, customers, and colleagues.
  • Meeting all statutory and compliance requirements, with a strong focus on doing things the right way.
  • Managing your time effectively, prioritising tasks to deliver the best results.
  • Being cost-conscious, making smart decisions that balance quality, speed, and value.

  • Organisational and planning skills
  • Maintenance and/or engineering experience
  • Customer service in a relevant fast moving 24/7 business.
  • 5 years’ experience within a relevant industry provider in a related engineering role.
  • Refrigeration ideally form a commercial back ground with experience maintain and installing refrigeration units and packs.
