As Cook/Kitchen Assistant, you will work alongside the Head Chef to deliver a high quality of food to our residents and ensure the kitchen operates in a timely manner.
Cook/Kitchen Assistant Contract
- £12.34 per hour
- 16 hours per week Cook or 32 hours per week (2 days per week as cook / 2 days per week as kitchen assistant)
- Additional £1 per hour for weekend shifts (Saturday and Sunday)
- 5.6 weeks annual leave (pro rata)

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
- City & Guilds 706 – 1 & 2, or equivalent qualification (achieved or working towards)
- Team player.
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative
Desired
- Experience of food preparation for the relevant Service User group.
- Experience working in a care environment would be advantageous but not a deal-breaker.
Main Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve hot and cold meals, as and when required.
- Bake cakes and pastries
- Provide support to junior kitchen employees with various tasks
- Conduct Basic Food Hygiene training for all care staff involved in handling and delivery of food.
- Maintain and improve professional knowledge and competence.
- Maintain accurate records of food supplies, and freezer/fridge temperatures.
- Ensure stock rotation.
- Assist in the ordering of stocks and checking of deliveries
- Ensure statutory Health & Safety standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Ensure all crockery and equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately
