Summary

Work as part of the nurse team delivering care to patients in the surgery working within the boundaries of legislation, policies, procedures and standards. To maintain high standards of professional competence in the performance of all duties. Carry out the primary purpose of routine phlebotomy and if required blood pressure height and weight checks or as directed by registered colleagues. Ensure the correct blood tests are taken according to the patient record and complete the laboratory request forms accurately Perform venepuncture, in accordance with practice procedures and protocols Ensure all samples are labelled correctly and stored in the appropriate transport bags. Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions Computer data entry/data allocation and collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures. Action recalls on home page following procedures. Check the welfare of the patient throughout the appointment, escalating as required to registered colleagues. Making new, and follow-up appointments Offering signposting, advice and guidance to patients as relevant. Chaperoning duties Responsible for ordering and stock control of all phlebotomy consumables and pathology swabs. Training will be provided to have the knowledge, skills and related competency to undertake your role and responsibilities. Participate in nurse team meetings, clinical supervision sessions and appraisals. Perform and record Diabetic foot checks
