Summary
Deliver high quality, evidence based and patient focused care and treatment planning, primarily in the UTC setting but also throughout all areas of Urgent and Emergency Care and be accountable for this. Use national and local guidelines to support safe decision making and practice. Have a sound grounding in history taking, clinical skills and knowledge of illness/injuries. Order relevant investigations based on clinical review of the patient and collaboration with senior members of the medical and MDT where appropriate. Be able to interpret clinical investigations such as x-rays and act on these findings appropriately. To continuously improve clinical care standards in line with the clinical governance framework. To ensure ongoing clinical and professional development. Be able to prescribe medications appropriate to treatment plans. To be aware of own scope of practice and work within that appropriately while continuing to develop own knowledge and skills safely through education and competency-based assessment. To act as the lead UTC practitioner by supervising, coaching and mentoring other members of the UTC team. This includes following appropriate HR & OD policies relating to absence and performance, where appropriate. To work flexibly across ED and UTCs where required on both sites.
