Summary
As part of a team of SMSAs, and reporting to the Senior SMSA for the area of the school concerned, to be responsible for the supervision and control of pupils in that area of the school during the lunch break.
Depending on the area of the school allocated, duties may include responsibility for the orderly conduct of pupils taking a school meal and/or that of pupils in and around the school buildings during the lunch time break.
Duties and Responsibilities
To carry out duties at all times with due regard to the principles of Equal Opportunity.
Supervision and control of pupils during the lunch time break, in the dining areas, about the school premises and in the play area, ensuring the school rules are upheld.
Assisting and directing pupils in the dining room and elsewhere, dealing with incidents of unacceptable behaviour and referring matters to the Senior SMSA when necessary.
Assisting with the maintenance of orderly arrangements both for the taking of school meals and the use of the buildings and other areas by pupils.
Assisting with arrangements for the administration of the taking of school meals (including, if appropriate, the handling of dinner cards), and supporting the school’s policies regarding school meals provision (healthy eating, ethnic meals etc).
Ensuring the Health & Safety of pupils during the lunch time break.
Upholding the school’s Code of Conduct and Equal Opportunities Policy
