An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional School Business Manager to join the dedicated and professional team at Chester Blue Coat CE Primary School.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and highly skilled Business Manager to take a strategic lead on the school’s financial, administrative, and operational functions. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the direction of our school, working closely with the Headteacher and Governors to ensure our resources are managed effectively to deliver the best possible outcomes for pupils.
In a challenging financial landscape, we are looking for someone confident and knowledgeable in managing budgets, able to balance careful financial stewardship with creative, solution-focused thinking to maximise resources for children’s learning.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead and manage the school’s financial strategy, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and value for money.
• Oversee school budgeting, forecasting, procurement and financial reporting.
• Manage premises, health and safety, and risk assessments, ensuring a safe and well-maintained learning environment.
• Oversee cleaning, midday and the school’s kitchen staff.
• Work strategically with the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to support school improvement priorities.
• Liaise with external partners, contractors, and the Local Authority, ensuring effective and professional relationships.

• Has proven experience in financial management, ideally within an educational setting.
• Is a confident and capable leader who can motivate and manage others.
• Is organised, analytical, and solution-focused, with excellent attention to detail.
• Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and can build effective relationships across the school community.

Working pattern & salary
• Grade 7, 28 hours per week, Term Time plus 5 INSET days.
• Current working pattern: 4 days per week, 2 days 8:30–16:30 and 2 days 8:30–15:30.
• Flexible options available – earlier starts, later finishes, or spreading hours across more days can be considered.
