About Us

We are a friendly family based in Bath looking for a kind, patient, and reliable Personal Assistant (PA) to help support our two sons aged 8 and 4, who both have high-need, nonverbal autism.

Our oldest son also has a genetic condition called Coffin-Siris Syndrome. Both boys are full of energy — they love climbing, bouncing, and exploring. Our oldest enjoys sorting objects by colour and shape, while our youngest adores plants and playing with water.

Because of their complex needs, both boys require close supervision at all times for safety.

About the Role

We are looking for someone who can provide practical support and a caring presence during afternoon/evening sessions at home.
Responsibilities include:

  • Providing support to each child, ensuring their safety at all times
  • Assisting with eating, changing clothes, and pad changes
  • Engaging the boys in simple, sensory-based play that aligns with their interests.
  • Helping maintain a safe environment (doors and gates locked, constant supervision — especially as our youngest tends put objects in his mouth)
This role would best suit someone with experience supporting children with high-needs autism, but we’re open to training the right person who shows patience, empathy, and initiative.

Essential Requirements

  • First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete one)
  • Compassionate, calm, and attentive
Desirable

  • Experience working with children with nonverbal autism
  • Non-smoker
  • COVID-vaccinated (preferred but not essential)
  • Female preferred (for personal care reasons), though all genders considered with the right experience.

If you are caring, dependable, and interested in making a real difference in two lovely boys’ lives, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

Training
  • Safeguarding Adults/Children
  • Understanding challenging behaviour
  • Autism / Aspergers
