Procurement Policy Lead
Location: Midlands - Hybrid (2 days on-site per week)
Rate: £500-£525 per day
Contract: Interim for 6 months
About the Role
A large public sector organisation is seeking a Procurement Policy Lead to develop, embed, and maintain a suite of procurement policies and procedures. This role will drive compliance, transparency, and continuous improvement across procurement practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain procurement policies and operational procedures.
- Standardise templates for procurement activities (e.g., tender documents, evaluation forms).
- Ensure policies reflect legislation and best practice.
- Deliver training and guidance to staff on policies and procedures.
- Drive cultural change towards consistent and compliant procurement practices.
- Manage compliance with transparency obligations under the Procurement Act 2023.
- Develop and implement transparency frameworks, including templates and guidance for publishing notices.
- Respond to national procurement policy developments and translate priorities into local objectives.
- Lead and support priority initiatives and manage staff.
Essential Experience
- Strong knowledge of procurement legislation and best practice.
- Experience developing and implementing procurement policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage compliance and transparency obligations.
- Skilled in stakeholder engagement and cultural change.
- Leadership experience, including managing staff.
