The Role
This role primarily entails supervising children & young people in the local community carrying out community reparation. Reparation is unpaid work in the community which benefits victims of crime, and the community as a whole. It is designed to help children and young people (aged 10 to 17, and open to the Youth Justice Team) to understand the consequences of their actions and take responsibility for their behaviour. Community Reparation is a way of children and young people, who have offended, to make amends to the community whilst providing opportunities for them to develop practical skills such as: gardening, painting & decorating, bike maintenance and other basic life skills.

As well as supervising children and young people carrying out community reparation you will also be expected to identify suitable projects within the local area (Bolton) and complete relevant risk assessments taking account of potential hazards such as location or equipment. Working alongside colleagues in the team you will help to assess the suitability of young people to engage in projects prior to them attending taking into consideration their diverse needs i.e. neurodiversity.

You will ensure that all community reparation work is completed to an acceptable standard and that children & young people carrying out the work maintain good standards of behaviour and are motivated to engage. You will be expected to ensure you maintain accurate records of all work completed as well as write reports on the standards of work in relation to individual children & young people.
If you would like to know more about the role before applying please contact William Morgan, Operational Manager on 07785 748230
