Summary
Job Summary
To be responsible for Physiotherapy management of patients with chronic pain and development of the Physiotherapy services within the Pain Management Team.
To work with other members of the Pain Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to provide a co-ordinated, effective and efficient service.
To work the MDT to assess and manage patients either individually or in groups for those who may also be attending for other forms of pain management or interventional therapies.
To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of his/her professional activities.
As part of the Pain Management Team, to use cognitive-behavioural skills in the clinical management of patients.
To utilise biopsychosocial clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based knowledge, to assess patients with a wide range of medical conditions and impairments and highly complex presentations.
To be able to respond to the chronic pain patients’ wide variation of complex physical and cognitive difficulties and learning needs. Utilising cognitive-behavioural skills and those of a specialist and autonomous physiotherapy practitioner, but seamlessly within the interdisciplinary team.
To work within a stressful and unpredictable environment treating outpatients covering a wide range of musculoskeletal and psychological problems.
To participate in delivering and auditing the physiotherapy component of the pain management service.
