We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our expert Estates Team as a vital member. In this key role, you will deliver a high quality, comprehensive maintenance service across our hospital facilities, ensuring operational excellence and safety. Working collaboratively within a well developed team, you will play a crucial part in both routine and emergency mechanical and electrical activities, maintaining the highest standards of industry practice and safety compliance. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering efficient, effective solutions in line with HTMs, Trust, and Sodexo’s health and safety, infection control policies, and permit to work systems. What You’ll Do:

  • Evidence of training and competence in welding techniques and fabrication of steel and copper pipework.
  • Investigate causes of breakdowns or failures and undertake remedial actions.
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, codes of practice, and health and safety regulations; conduct risk assessments.
  • Perform maintenance tasks, including statutory, preventative, and reactive repairs, ensuring plant history is maintained.
  • Service, test, diagnose, repair, and calibrate advanced mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment.
  • Provide technical advice, supervise tasks, and ensure safety standards are met during maintenance activities.
  • Manage the supply of spare parts and materials for quick response repairs; liaise with management and staff.
  • Generate reports, calculations, and recommendations for efficient operation of plant and equipment, utilising BMS and CAFM systems.

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience within a similar role
  • Experience with Mechanical Systems
  • Plate Heat Exchangers
  • Pressure Systems – Steam
  • Unvented and Vented
  • Pumps, Motors and Bearings
  • BMS Control Systems
  • Able to demonstrate an aptitude for problem solving using a logical approach
  • Works well in a pressurised environment
  • Must be computer literate
  • Must be able to demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good level of mathematical skills
  • Previous experience within a Health Service context
  • Demonstrating maturity in working with Hard FM groups
  • Any specialist knowledge relevant to the health care environment
  • Previous experience using SharePoint and Maximo CAFM systems (desirable)
